The full form of ASAP is Additional Skill Acquisition Programme. Initiated by the Government of Kerala, ASAP aims to enhance the employability of students by equipping them with industry-relevant skills.

Launched as a collaborative effort between the Departments of General and Higher Education in Kerala, ASAP addresses the skill gap among students pursuing higher secondary and undergraduate education. The programme focuses on imparting both foundational and industry-specific skills to prepare students for the evolving job market.

Course Structure

ASAP’s training is divided into two main modules:

1. Foundation Module (180 hours):
   • Communicative English (100 hours): Enhances students’ proficiency in English, focusing on effective communication skills essential for professional environments.
   • Information Technology (80 hours): Provides basic IT skills, ensuring students are adept with essential computer applications and digital tools.
2. Skill Module (150 to 200 hours):
   • Offers specialized training in selected industry sectors, allowing students to gain in-depth knowledge and practical experience in their chosen field.

Additionally, students are required to complete a compulsory internship lasting 150 hours, providing hands-on experience in real-world settings.
